Three Years and Growing

June is a significant month for the Black Resilience in Colorado (BRIC) Fund, as we annually celebrate our anniversary and Juneteenth. It’s a time to reflect on our history and honor our enslaved ancestors’ steadfast vision, resilience, and resolve to fully experience the freedoms written in the U.S. Constitution. While we have certainly come a long way, the destination is freedom without, restraints or barriers. To that end, OUR journey continues. As the first Black-focused community fund established in Colorado to provide financial resources and support to Black-led and serving nonprofits, the BRIC Fund began to lay the foundation to build and strengthen Black communities BRIC by BRIC. But more importantly, to give those nonprofits the freedom to serve the needs of their communities without financial restraints - shifting from surviving to thriving.

“Bricks” symbolize Structure, Strength, and Security – the very thing we hoped the BRIC Fund would provide. We are proud that the BRIC Fund has distributed more than $3.5 million to nearly 230 Black-led and serving nonprofits in three years. In addition, we have successfully provided $200k in capital improvement loans, provided leadership and organization development programming to 200 plus BIPOC leaders and their organizations, and partnered with similar resource entities to secure $33M in capacity grants for Colorado’s historically marginalized frontline nonprofits.

But we aren’t done yet. Considering where we started in 2020 to where we are today, we are excited about the future. Our vision is focused on strategies and efforts to achieve three things - Stability, Sustainability, and Growth to have greater, long-term community impact. Each of us has an opportunity to make a difference and invest in community outcomes. Together in partnership and as a collective force, we have the power to create change and build thriving Black communities!

Recognizing that lasting change takes time and investment, BRIC began a three-year campaign in 2022 to raise $10 million by the end of 2025. In honor of our 3rd anniversary, we encourage you to join the BRIC Movement and invest in 3’s this month to help us achieve our goals:

  • $3 a day

  • $30 a week

  • $300 a month

Every contribution made to the BRIC Fund thru June 30th will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000. Your contribution will benefit diverse Black-led and serving nonprofit organizations addressing systemic racism and negative impacting inequities to build strong Black communities in Colorado and beyond - BRIC by BRIC!
